CHRISTMAS NATIVITY 2014

We had our Nativity recently.  All classes participated.  Junior & Senior Infants were stars and flowers.  First and second class were kings and third and fourth class were shepherds.  As fifth and sixth class are the oldest, they all had different parts and acted out the story of the birth of Jesus.  I had the part of a Wise Man.  Third and fourth class came on first then fifth and sixth did their bits with all the other classes coming on in between.  Our acting and singing were a great success.  We rounded off the night with the whole school singing a few well known Christmas Carols.  It was a great success and a wonderful night.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR

Rusheen National School had a Christmas Bazaar on the 7th of December.  People brought lots of goods to be sold there.  We had to sort and price all the goods before the people came. There were lots of different stalls there, like sweet stalls, coffee and tea stalls, etc.  There was rudolf’s food there and DVD’s, lucky dip, food stalls and Christmas Wreaths.  There was a raffle and an auction.  We had a great day and it is a great fundraiser for the school.

SCIENCE WEEK

For Science Week 2014, we were invited to St. Mary’s Secondary School Macroom for a few experiments.  We travelled in by bus.  We were welcomed to St. Mary’s by Mr. Cooke and two of his students.  We were split into groups of seven.  We walked from reception to the first Science Lab.  There they showed us a few experiments involving digestion and sources of electricity.  We then moved on to the second Science Lab.  We were shown more experiments about solving a crime with ink and were shown gruesome parts of animal bodies!  After a hard days work, we were treated to a quick snack in the school cafeteria.  Eventually we were back in Rusheen and revised our great day.

TEAM HOPE SHOE BOX APPEAL

Every year Rusheen N.S. takes part in the Team Hope Shoe-Box Appeal.  Lots of schools take part in this wonderful event.  This year over 160,000 shoe boxes were sent off to Malawi, Swaziland, Lesotho, Burundi and many more poor countries in Africa.  The Shoe Boxes were decorated beautifully by the children in Rusheen.  We put teddy bears, jewellery and toys in the boxes to make someone happy.  We love to make children that don’t have much happy for Christmas and we hope we do.  We also watched the Team Hope DVD online and saw the joy our Shoe-Boxes full of presents brought to them.
