Christmas Market 2018

Parents Assoc.Comments Off on Christmas Market 2018

The Annual Christmas Market took place on Sun 2nd Dec and again it was a very successful event. This event has taken place on the first Sunday of December for many years. It was formally known as the “Bring & Buy” and it has been the main school fundraiser since its existence.

A large crowd gathered in an aptly decorated Aghinagh Gaa Hall to savour the festive atmosphere and join the school community for a cuppa, the chat or a warm glass of Mulled wine.

The usual stalls offered plenty; there was a great response to a request for home baking with plenty of mouth-watering cakes and a number of Christmas cakes available for sale and some delicious buns and mince pies to have with the cuppa.

Ticket sales went well for the General Raffle, the Hamper raffle; offering two Luxury Hamper prizes and the O’Donoghue/Ring Hotel Voucher which was a lovely treat for the winner, at a value of 200euro! The gift/voucher shop was overflowing and had plenty to offer the Christmas shopper, there was something for young and younger!

Our children had spent a few busy weeks making some beautiful Christmas crafts which were on display and available for sale. The bottle stall had a que all morning with many trying their luck. There was plenty to entertain the children and wet their appetites with tuck shop bags, hot chocolate & cookies, a children’s book stall, guess the name of the soft toy, No. of sweets in the jar, face painting, colouring corner and their very own raffle.

Christmas Wreaths and a couple of Christmas trees were for sale and for those looking to keep the home fires burning; turf, timber and coal were available.

Local businesses were again outstanding in their support of this event with many gift vouchers and items for sale/auction donated. We hope that parents can return the goodwill and support these local businesses.

The undertaking of the Christmas Market is no small feat, requiring a lot of “People Power”. Sincere thanks to all of you who helped out in any capacity by volunteering to help or making a donation, it is greatly appreciated.

Wishing all parents, children and school staff a very Happy and restful Christmas!
